KidsAndCars.org: Blindzone Safety

THE PROBLEM:  A “Blindzone” is the area surrounding a motor vehicle that cannot be seen by a driver when slowly backing up or moving forward.

Each year, thousands of young children in the United States and Canada are injured and hundreds are killed in frontover and backover incidents involving a driver’s blindzone.  Tragically, a parent or other family member is the driver in a majority of these incidents (70%).

OUR PARTNER:  To help raise each driver’s awareness of their vehicle’s Blindzone and put a stop to frontover and backover tragedies, 60 for Safety has joined forces with KidAndCars.org to support their mission keep children safe in and around motor vehicles.

THE CAMPAIGN:  In Fall 2012, hundreds of attorneys committed to making our communities a safer place to live will provide 60 for Safety / KidsAndCars.org Blindzone Safety campaign presentations at hundreds of schools, community groups, civic organizations and other gatherings in every state in the U.S. and every province throughout Canada.

These educational, informative and inspiring talks will present the real dangers of frontover and backover incidents, share true stories of the costs of these tragedies, and demonstrate to drivers how to measure their own vehicle’s Blindzone and increase their own Blindzone safety.

This effort — to reach more than 50,000 drivers in a single week — will kick-off an ongoing campaign that will continue throughout 2012 and beyond.

YOUR PART:  If you are an attorney member of The Injury Board and passionate about spreading a safety message to your community or if you are part of a school, group or other organization that would like to host a 60 for Safety / KidsAndCars.org Blindzone Safety presentation in your area, then contact us by clicking thru the appropriate banner on the right of this screen.
